As COVID-19 continues to affect us all, we’re having to find ways to alter our lives but still live them. And… it’s pretty tough.

What can help with the virus? What is bad for it? How can you continue maintaining a healthy lifestyle amid all of this craziness?

Since COVID-19 is so new, there’s really not anything that will definitely make you immune or “cure” you from the virus. Of course, wash your hands, practice social distancing, etc.

But what about other things?

One interesting theory is that vitamin D can decrease your chance of contracting the virus. Is it true, though?

Today, I’d like to delve into this theory… because vitamin D is something we should still be talking about long after this virus becomes a thing of the past.

Some scientists and doctors have been discussing whether vitamin D can help combat the virus. What exactly IS vitamin D good for?

Well, to put it simply… a LOT of things!

The Health Benefits Of Vitamin D

Vitamin D can help keep bones, teeth, and muscles healthy. It’s been linked to immunity and can help with respiratory health.

Despite all of this, it’s not definite that vitamin D can help with the novel coronavirus. How come?

Well, there have been some studies… but the problem is that this research is all still super new. Plus, there are issues with how these studies have been conducted.

SPECIAL: What’s REALLY Causing Your Weight Gain, High Blood Pressure & Constant Fatigue (If You’re Over 30 You Need to See This)…

For example, one study found that not having enough vitamin D could have something to do with negative COVID-19 outcomes.

But…

This study is preliminary and unpublished… which means it’s not something that you can take at face value.

Basically, the study concluded that vitamin D may help with COVID-19. There are a few problems with how the study was conducted… which you can about read at greater length here.

Additionally, another team at the University of Oxford found the opposite… that there’s no “clinical evidence” that vitamin D can be used to treat or prevent the virus.

So, why are we talking about vitamin D?! Well, first of all, it’s important to know what works and what might be fake news.

In this case, it hasn’t been proven that vitamin D is some big cure for the virus. We definitely should only be following what our doctors say and listening to guidelines that are put out.

But, vitamin D IS something that we should talk about as a topic separate from COVID-19… because it is really important in general (for the reasons I listed earlier!). And, the fact that it can help with so many things means we should be looking into it (as people are) with regards to something like COVID-19.

It’s a great tool overall that can and should be used as part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Let’s dive in a bit!

What Happens If You’re Deficient In Vitamin D? Plus, How To Get More Vitamin D…

Lack of vitamin D can cause problems in both children and adults. It can cause something called osteomalacia for adults… which results in a lot of pain in the bones.

It could also cause hair loss and joint pain. Yikes!

Numerous people believe that a lack of vitamin D can also be linked to respiratory issues. One researcher has talked about the connection between vitamin D and lung injury… and a research review looking into the possibility that a lack of this vitamin is common with people who have respiratory issues.

More research needs to be done, but the findings are certainly interesting.

Since so much research has indicated that vitamin D is really good and important for your body to maintain a healthy lifestyle… how do you get more of it?

Of course, the most obvious answer is to go outside! Sunshine is a great way to get vitamin D (wear sunscreen, though!).

But, what if we aren’t able to get outside? Or, what if we don’t live in an area that’s all that sunny?

These are important questions to answer, and not just during the time of COVID-19.

The good news is that there are other ways to get vitamin D.

While the food options that have a lot of vitamin D are limited… this doesn’t mean that they don’t exist. Some great sources for vitamin D include fatty fish like salmon and tuna. Egg yolks (my favorite!), mushrooms, and fortified orange juice are some other good options.

You want to aim for 400 to 800s IUs of vitamin D every day, according to the NIH. This will help to prevent rickets, which can be caused by a lack of vitamin D.

However, you may need more or less depending on who you are… AND (this is important)… you CAN have too much vitamin D.

If your doctor finds that you are low in vitamin D, he or she may recommend a supplement. This can help you get your vitamin D levels back to a normal level.

ALWAYS talk to a doctor before changing up your diet to add in something like this. In the meantime, try to get outside every day for a nice, long walk. It’s a natural way to get some vitamin D, and there are so many other benefits to that as well!

Another “Nutrient” That Can Boost Your Immune System… AND Help You Lose Weight…

It might sound odd at first… but when I was doing this research about the amazing benefits of vitamin D… it actually reminded me A LOT of the benefits of another type of “nutrient.”

Boosting your immune system… easing depression… and helping you lose weight?

Sounds a lot like the benefits you can get from “living nutrients,” aka probiotics!

And probiotics can do more than that, too.

In fact, research has shown that getting the right strains of probiotics into your diet can help you:

  • Increase your energy…
  • Ease digestive issues…
  • Reduce bloating…
  • Burn more fat…
  • And more!

But if you read carefully, there is a catch to this: you have to get the right strains of probiotics. (The wrong kinds can actually make you GAIN weight!)

So, I did a ton of research about the exact benefits associated with particular strains of probiotics…

And surprisingly, I found only one probiotic supplement on the market right now that contains the 5 probiotic strains that have been proven to give you these benefits.

This probiotic supplement is even recommended by medical doctors…

And you can find out exactly what it is… how it was formulated… and the 5 unique probiotic strains in it… right here:
