Here’s How To Look & Feel Great In Your Swimsuit

Summer has officially started, which means just one thing: swimsuit season is upon us. Normally this time of the year is met with more than a little bit of anxiety, but this year?
Whew, boy. Who is struggling with gaining more than a few pounds while in quarantine?
If you’ve gained a couple unwanted pounds, don’t fret. For starters, you’re not alone. While emotional eating may not be healthy… it’s a fairly common response to stress.
However, now that summer is here… you’re probably feeling more than a little bit motivated to get back to your beach body. (Even if you’re just going to be lounging around your pool!)
TRENDING: Science Reveals Easy, No-Workout Ways to Lose Weight… While You Snooze! Now, here’s one thing I want to warn you about right away: please, whatever you do, do not engage in a strict crash diet to lose any weight.
For starters, it won’t teach you sustainable, long-lasting habits.
And secondly? People who tend to crash diet also gain it all back… and sometimes more.
Ugh, no bueno. You don’t want that at all.
Instead, if you’re looking to drop a few pounds and feel your best in your swimsuit… try these 4 simple tips instead.
Not only will they help you look awesome, but they’ll also allow you to feel super confident the next time you slip into your itty-bitty bikini.

1) Ditch Your Nightly Glass Of Wine
There’s arguably nothing more relaxing than unwinding after a long day with a delicious glass of wine. Heck, some people would even argue that wine is good for you!
After all, it’s rich in antioxidants. That practically makes it a health food.
Sadly, despite all the proven health benefits of wine… it has no place in a diet if you’re trying to shed a few pounds. In fact, it could even cause you to gain weight instead.
There are a few problems with alcohol in a weight loss diet. One, alcohol is one of the highest calorie macronutrients—second only to fat.
It has a whopping 7 calories per gram, which is 3 more than protein and carbs. Conversely, fat has 9 calories per gram.
But wine won’t fill you up. You’ll just be drinking empty calories.

Third, alcohol has been shown to lead to visceral fat. If you’re wanting to slip into a bikini (or tankini or one-piece), the last thing you want is a puffy wine gut.
Sadly, if you want to feel good in a swimsuit… you’re going to have to (at least temporarily) cut out the wine.
2) Skip The Processed Junk
What is it about a large bag of chips or cookies that really hits all of those yummy receptors in your mouth?
And yes, that’s a rhetorical question! Junk food has actually been designed to be hyperpalatable. This, in turn, causes serious overeating.
That alone should be reason to skip the processed junk food. Alas, that’s not the only issue that we have with processed food.
This yummy garbage is also usually super high in fat, salt, and carbohydrates. While there’s nothing wrong with any of these things—in moderation!—they’re hard to squeeze into a healthy diet.
Salt has been shown to cause you to retain water. So have carbohydrates. Eating them together? It’s a sure-fire recipe for sudden weight gain.
And if you’re overeating these foods? That gain can absolutely be fat.
Another problem with these foods is the fact that they’re often very low in fiber. That means that, ahem… it’ll make it harder for you to go. (If you catch my drift…)
So picture it: you’ll be retaining water and feeling bloated if you eat that stuff. Yuck. Nobody wants that, especially if you’re about to reach for your swimsuit.
If you want to feel cute in that swimsuit… you need to lay off the processed junk for a while, okay?

3) Fill Up On Fiber & Protein
If you’re trying to lose weight quickly… it can be tempting to want to get super strict on your diet. That would be a terrible idea, though.
You don’t have to starve yourself at all to lose weight. Period. I promise!
Instead, take a closer look at the types of foods that you’re eating. In fact, if you eat the right things? You can actually eat more.
SPECIAL: These 3 Delicious Smoothie Recipes Are Specially Designed To Burn Off More Fat… So You Lose More WeightNo, I’m not joking around. Many people swear by volume eating to shed weight. It allows you to fill up on healthy, but lower calorie, foods.
Load your plate up with vegetables. Add a side of protein and a whole grain carb.
The protein will help you stay full and satiated… and whole grains can help banish any bloating (and help you stay fuller for longer).
And if you’re feeling like a little something sweet after mealtime… why not reach for a piece of fresh fruit?
Peaches, cherries, and strawberries are at their peak ripeness during the summer. And honestly, they taste so much better than candy!
You’ll quickly learn that you don’t have to go to bed hungry if you’re trying to lose weight. Just by making smarter decisions, you can shed the pounds with ease.
4) Sneak In A Few Probiotics
I’ve made it no secret that I’m sort of in love with probiotics.
These gut-healthy bacteria are probably one of the best things you can eat in your diet. Not only are probiotic-rich foods actually super yummy… but they’re also very good for you.
Studies have shown that probiotics are arguably one of the most important things you can include in a healthy diet. Even better, they can help you drop a few pounds fast, too.
Probiotics have been shown to reduce bloating and gas… which in turn means you’ll have a flatter belly.
Oh, and speaking of a flat belly… did you know that probiotics can also help burn visceral fat? Yep, it’s true.
Forget crunches! No seriously, forget crunches.
Research proves that spot-reduction doesn’t work. You unfortunately can’t blast belly fat with exercise alone.
But you can with probiotics. How awesome is that?

And if you’re really desperate to do a crunch or two… why not crunch on some raw, fermented pickles?
Without a doubt, probiotics are seriously your best secret weapon in looking your best in a swimsuit this summer!

Short-Term Goals, Long-Term Habits
I don’t expect anyone to give up wine forever. That’s just ridiculous. But if you’re trying to drop weight… it’s okay to give it up in the meanwhile.
The same goes for junk food. While it shouldn’t be eaten that often… you’re not going to gain 10 pounds overnight from just one cookie.
The point is, swimsuit season can definitely be stressful. Nobody wants to feel poorly about themselves and be self-conscious while splashing around in the water.
However, if you’re wanting to lose the weight… these 4 tips can help you get there. And even better, they can help you learn good habits for long-lasting weight loss.
If you asked me, I’d have to say that actually feels better than wearing a swimsuit. After all, staying healthy for life should always be your ultimate goal!
But you know what? If it takes dropping a few vanity pounds for swimsuit season to get you started, that’s totally fair!
As long as you’re happy and healthy in the long run, that’s what really matters.
