Monika Knapp lives by a simple philosophy: “Food is medicine.”
After attempting numerous diets (vegetarian, vegan, low-fat, Whole30, paleo, calorie restriction and the list goes on) with no real lasting success, she decided to throw in the towel, and trust her gut–literally.
Her background in neuroscience lends itself to this scientific approach to weight management and loss. Which should come as no surprise, considering most of your body’s serotonin (the chemical that contributes to well-being and happiness) is synthesized in the gut!
Monika loves to experiment in the kitchen as well, and takes pleasure in searching for (and cooking) the foods that make her feel good–fermented hot sauces, spiced North African curries, and homemade sourdough bread to name a few.
You could call her a “kitchen scientist,” but ultimately, she believes a strong mind-body connection is essential for maintaining a healthy weight and relationship with food.
