“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!”

How many of us have heard this for our entire lives? I definitely have!

However, a new study says that skipping breakfast before a workout can lead you to lose more weight.

Some have speculated that skipping breakfast would then cause you to overeat during the day, but that didn’t happen in this study. Instead, people who skipped breakfast and then worked out would eat super big lunches, but taper off their remaining meals for the rest of the day.

This study surprised me, because I’ve always been taught that breakfast is really important. But, if you work out, it may not be as important as we thought!

This study was pretty small, but the results are still super interesting.

When the people in the study ate breakfast and worked out, they’d end up with an extra 490 calories or so. However, when they skipped breakfast before they worked out, they hardly had any extra calories.

If you work out, skipping breakfast may help you lose more weight. Of course, don’t plan on doing any crazy long workouts, because having some food in your body is always important!

I’ve actually found that when I wake up earlier to work out, I’m not as hungry, and sometimes I feel better after working out without eating anything beforehand.

Scientists think that people who skip breakfast before exercising might get messages from the brain that are “urgent” that they need to eat… but that these messages might go away pretty quickly.

This study was done with a small group of people who were pretty fit, so more research has to be done to see if there is the same effect on other body types. However, if you like to work out and are trying to lose weight, trying this might help!

What To Eat After A Workout

So, if you skip breakfast before you work out, what should you eat afterwards? Here are some suggestions:

BRAND NEW: These Delicious Desserts Can Help You Burn Fat & Lose Weight

1) Eggs with toast:

Eating protein and carbohydrates after you work out is great for your body. You should never ignore a hungry stomach, especially after exercising.

Having a veggie omelet with some toast is the perfect post-workout snack. Carbs help with recovery, and protein helps to build and repair muscle. Yum!

2) Water:

Don’t forget to drink water! Don’t let dehydration get you down.

Drinking water is not only great for staying healthy, but it can also help you lose weight. Our bodies become more full when we drink water. Water also helps clear up skin issues, as well as SO many other great things!

3) Avocado:

Don’t shy away from fats! Some people think that eating fatty foods will slow down the progress of working out, but there are a ton of healthy fats that can help with muscle growth.

In addition to avocados, eating nuts and fruit, like trail mix, can be great!

Another thing that’s important is when we eat after working out. Experts say that eating within 45 minutes of exercising is great.

This is because studies have shown that our bodies can rebuild protein and glycogen more after working out. Sounds good to me!

It’s also super important to eat after working out we should never just skip a meal completely!

So, let’s recap. You like to work out, right? (Well, maybe you don’t like it, but you do it anyway!)

That’s great!

But eating healthy is JUST as important to living a healthy lifestyle as working out it. You can’t have one without the other.

If you work out like a maniac but eat really poorly, you probably won’t see too many results. Eating healthy is often the key to losing weight and living a healthy lifestyle.

So, if you are looking to lose weight and you work out sometimes, try eating your breakfast after you exercise. It may result in more weight loss!

Getting in your carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats are great post-exercise meals. Don’t shy away from eating a little bit more, because you burn a lot of calories in a workout! It’s important to replenish those calories so that you can continue having the energy you need every day.

At the end of the day, eating healthy is important no matter what. Whether you work out like a crazy person or are just a casual fitness enthusiast, what you put into your body is important.

Try skipping breakfast, but remember not to skip entire meals. Any calories lost means that you have to put those calories back into your body.

Treat your body like a temple – because it is!
